Last Saturday, Templeton High School track athletes competed in the CIF Southern Section Finals at Cerritos. Among them, Clayton Mackay became the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 champion in the 300 meter Intermediate hurdles. Sienna Stinson also out-competed everyone else and took first in the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 pole vault. A combination effort between Jared Wilson, Clayton Mackay, Dylan Prins, and Noah Crabtree won first place in the boys 4 by 400 CIF Southern Section Division 4. Crabtree also took third place in the CIF Division 4 800 meter race. Hannah Mcroy secured fifth place in CIF Division 4 discus. Congratulations to all the hard-working athletes!

Today the Varsity and JV boy's basketball teams begin their seasons while the girl's and boy's soccer teams play their second games of their seasons.
The boys basketball JV team will face off against San Luis Obispo High School at 3:00 at Saint Joseph High School.
The Varsity boy's basketball team plays Bakersfield Christian High School at 4:30 in the first game of their tournament at Morro Bay High School that lasts all weekend. The team will face Coast Union High School on Friday and both Garces Memorial High School and Selma High School on Saturday.
The girl's and boy's soccer teams play Pioneer Valley, with the girls playing at home and the boys on the road. The JV and Varsity girl's games both begin at 3:30. Both Varsity teams hope to bounce back from tough losses to Coast Union in their last games.

On Nov. 4, Templeton High School Girls and Boys Varsity and JV Cross Country teams traveled to Cabrillo High School to compete in the Los Padres League finals, the determining race for which team is going to make it to CIF. Junior Varsity Girls placed second out of seven teams earning Templeton 12 points in the competition. JV Boys placed second to last in their races. Varsity Girls placed fourth, and for the first time in a decade, Varsity Boys placed third. The top nine runners from Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams have made it into CIF. The priliminary race is next Saturday, Nov. 14.

On Monday May 4th, Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry was officially named the 2014-2015 Most Valuable Player. Curry averaged 23.8 points per game, 7.7 assists per game, and shot 48.7% from the field. He also made 44.3% of his threes and 91.4% of his free throws.
Curry led the Warriors to a franchise best 67 wins and only 15 losses. In his acceptance speech, he said he was thankful for the award but his ultimate goal is to led the Warriors to a championship. The team has displayed significant improvement ever since they hired Coach Steve Kerr. The Warriors easily swept the New Orleans Pelicans in the first round of the playoffs, but are now tied 1-1 against the Memphis Grizzlies.

This Monday, April 13th, THS Golf defeated Santa Maria's Boys Golf team with a score of 247 to 251.
Specific team members' scores:
Lauren Shin and Brennan Tobin tied for best scores with 46.
MJ Torgerson came close with 48.
Jason Johnson-Yurchak scored 51.
Austin Ice scored 58.
Brock Belmonte scored 62.
Senior Lauren shin reports that the highest score across both teams was a 44 by a member of Santa Maria's team.

Both JV and Varsity girl's basketball have tournaments this week--JV in Nipomo and Varsity in SLO and Morro Bay. With the defeat of our Varsity Eagles against SLO High last night, 41-56, we wish them luck today against Rigetti. Let's get some Templeton High fans to come out and support our Eagles for the rest of the tournament; Varsity plays against Rigetti at SLO High today, 12/11/14, at 4:30, on 12/12/14 (Friday) against Garces at Morro Bay High at 8, and finally, on 12/13/14 (Saturday morning) against Paso at Morro Bay High at 10:30.

Girls' volleyball has set a high standard this season. They ended up with a 14-0 record, placing first in the Los Padres League. They are also placed second in division 3A in the CIF rankings.
They recently played their first CIF game at home against Rosemead High School. The Templeton girls proved their determination to win by not giving up any games to their opponents. They dominated their way through the match with scores of 25-14, 25-9, and 25-12.
The varsity girls now move on to the second round which is going to be played at Ramona High School on November 13. By the looks of the first round, the team is showing much promise and is determined to make some noise this year in CIF.

The baseball team won their first ever Los Padres League title over a 7-5 victory against Cabrillo High School on Tuesday Mar 8th. The team came back with a 3-3 game in the fifth inning with four runs. Junior Taylor Tobin hit a single with bases loaded and brought in two runs, while Tyler Kollmann had a RBI for the first inning and finished 2 out of 3 at the plate. Kollmann was 9-0 at the mound; Evan Peterson came into the game the save the eagles. The team is 18-3 overall and 10-1 in the league. The game on Friday, May 11th against Lompoc will be the tie-breaker to decided which team will the league Champs.

Saturday Feb. 25, the Girls Varsity basketball team lost to the Mission Prep Royals with a score of 47-58 in the playoffs. Sophomore Mari Stewart said, “The series of CIF games were an awesome experience and it was fun to see how much our hard work paid off. I’m really excited for next year and ready to play again.” Stewart scored nine of 15 points in the fourth quarter for the Eagles. Senior Jeanine Madson also commented, “The season was really great. We were able to do something no team has done before.” The team scored overall a number of 1692 points combined at all games this season.

Camacho (center) passes other runners in last Saturday's race.
Templeton senior Savannah Camacho has done it again. On Nov 26th, Camacho placed 5th in the Division 4 race at the CIF State Cross Country Championships in Fresno. Camacho’s time was 18 minutes, 2 seconds.
